The present issue of „The Castle Chronicle. Annals” (8/74) is devoted early modern court theatre. Outstanding international researchers agreed to take part in the project announcing the exhibition on the theatre of Ladislas IV, Polish King and Great Duke of Lithuania (The Royal Castle in Warsaw – Museum, 2024/2025). Their contributions present new, sometimes even sensational, findings regarding the theatrical patronage of Ladislas Vasa. The volume includes also case studies on theatre, drama, and European court ballet, as well as more synthetic approaches to theatrical scenography and related spheres.
